BGP-Multipath Routing in the Internet

چکیده

BGP-Multipath (BGP-M) is a multipath routing technique for load balancing. Distinct from other techniques deployed at router inside an Autonomous System (AS), BGP-M border that has installed multiple inter-domain links to neighbor AS. It uses the equal-cost multi-path (ECMP) function of share traffic destination prefix on different links. Despite recent research interests in routing, there little study BGP-M. Here we provide first measurement and comprehensive analysis Internet. We extracted information query data collected Looking Glass (LG) servers. revealed already been extensively used A particular example Hurricane Electric (AS6939), Tier-1 network operator, which implemented >1,000 cases 69 its routers prefixes 611 ASes, including many hyper-giant ASes large content providers, both IPv4 IPv6 examined distribution operation also ran traceroute using RIPE Atlas infer paths, schemes allocation, delay This provided state-of-the-art knowledge with novel insights into unique features distinct advantages as effective readily available

Aggregate Multipath QoS Routing in the Internet

In this paper we address long-term and short-term effects of traffic aggregation and QoS provision using multipath routing in all-IP based mobile networks.

Towards Internet-wide Multipath Routing

Today’s Internet would be more efficient and robust if routers could flexibly divide traffic over multiple paths. Often, having just a few alternate paths is sufficient for customizing paths for different applications, improving security, reacting to failures and balancing load. Yet alternate paths are often unavailable, due to two barriers. First, in a network the size of the Internet, moving ...

Optical BGP Routing Convergence in Lightpath Failure of Optical Internet

Sangjin Jeong et al. 97 Optical Border Gateway Protocol (OBGP) is an extension to BGP for Optical Cross Connects (OXCs) to automatically setup multiple direct optical lightpaths between many different autonomous domains. With OBGP, the routing component of a network may be distributed to the edge of the network while the packet classification and forwarding is done in the core. However, it is n...

BANANAS: A Framework for Explicit, Multipath Routing in the Internet ?

Today the Internet offers a single path between end-systems even though it intrinsically has a large multiplicity of paths. In this paper we present BANANAS, an architectural framework aimed at introducing multipath routing in the Internet. BANANAS uses the idea of a globally known path identifier, known as “PathID” to achieve source 1 specified, explicit, multipath routing in a partially upgra...

Inferring Internet AS Relationships Based on BGP Routing Policies

The type of business relationships between the Internet autonomous systems (AS) determines the BGP interdomain routing. Previous works on inferring AS relationships relied on the connectivity information between ASes. In this paper we infer AS relationships by analysing the routing polices of ASes encoded in the BGP attributes Communities and the Locpref. We accumulate BGP data from RouteViews,...
